BANKING FUGITIVE WOOS UGANDA

Intro:

VAN A BRINK, the founding chairman and chief executive of the First International Bank of Grenada (FIBG), which collapsed last year with an estimated $ 150m (pounds 102m) losses, is trying to obtain Ugandan citizenship to avoid extradition.

According to a report in
Offshore Alert, Mr Brink, 49, who fled to Uganda and lives in a house once owned by former President Idi Amin, recently married a local woman. It is thought that Mr Brink will now apply for Ugandan citizenship which, with his new marital status, would make it harder for him to be extradited for trial.
