This entire incident is very suspicous. Instinctively, I didn't believe the allegations when they were first reported.
If the CIA was responsible for causing bogus charges against Julian Assange, this could - and should - come back to haunt the agency and will further harm the image of the USA in the outside world.
I can't think of anything more un-American than trumping up allegations against someone for exercising their freedom of speech and freedom to publish information.
