Posted: 7/20/2010 7:30:17 PM By: David Marchant An extremely important new law protecting publishers from frivolous libel actions in countries with crime-friendly libel laws, like the UK and most Offshore Financial Centers, is about to be passed in the USA.
As someone who has successfully defended libel actions in foreign countries, e.g Canada (where the plaintiff was a convicted criminal) and the Cayman Islands, and spent a fortune in the process, the importance of this new proposed law cannot be understimated.
The UK libel law is a criminal's best friend because it deters publishers from warning the public about illegal activity. Frankly, the law is a disgrace to the civilized world.
