Justice Bannister was appointed to act as a Judge of the Easter Caribbean Supreme Court on 1 April 2009 with the title of Commercial Court Judge. He was tasked with setting up the Commercial Division of the ECSC and sits in the British Virgin Islands. He retired from the position in 2015.
He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1974 and took silk in 1991. He had a company/commercial practice and was in Chambers at 1 New Square and, latterly, 3 Stone Buildings, Lincoln’s Inn, before being appointed to the ECSC bench.
