Speaker Biography
Jamison Firestone is a graduate of Tulane University, 1988, and Tulane Law School, class of 1991. Mr. Firestone was born in Los Angeles in 1966, raised in New York, and received his higher education in New Orleans. Mr. Firestone is a member of the New York Bar.
Mr. Firestone set up Russia's first independent law firm advising inward investors on Russian law. He lived in Moscow from just before the fall of the USSR in 1991 until just recently when he moved to London, where his firm maintains a second office.
Mr. Firestone has extensive experience structuring the Russian operations of foreign companies and joint ventures. He also specializes in setting up special purpose investment vehicles for the purpose of buying Russian equities and making direct investments.
Much of his practice concerns the use of offshore structures for lawful ends and the penetration of offshore structures that have been used to commit crimes.
Mr. Firestone was a member of the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia for six years and chairman of its Small and Midsize Business Committee.
He has been a frequent contributor to the Russian financial newspaper Vedomosti, a joint venture between the Financial Times of London and the Wall Street Journal and is a frequent guest on Russian TV and radio shows.
