Data Scientist, ACA Decryptex (New York)
Farid is a Data Scientist with ACA Decryptex, the Surveillance Technology division of ACA Compliance Group's Technology Solutions branch in New York. In this role, he contributes to the development and enhancement of trade surveillance algorithms and products centered on global regulatory compliance initiatives and state of the art quantitative research for compliance officers, risk officers, and advisory services.
Prior to joining ACA, Farid worked for the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission in the Office of Compliance and Inspection Examinations' Investment Adviser Unit and Quantitative Analytics Unit. His responsibilities were to provide analytical and quantitative support for the National Examination Program (NEP) and to help evolve the National Examination Analytics Tool (NEAT). Before the U.S SEC, Farid worked as a researcher at Philips Research and then IBM Watson Research.
Before returning to academia for his doctoral studies, he held quantitative analyst positions at Citigroup Yield Book and then J.P Morgan. Farid began his career progressing through technology oriented roles at Brookfield Financial Properties, Citigroup, D.E. Shaw, and Vera Institute of Justice.
Farid is currently a PhD Candidate in Management Science and Information Systems at Rutgers University, having previously graduated with a Masters of Science in Management and Systems in addition to an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Information Technologies from New York University. He also holds a Bachelors in Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from Bernard M. Baruch College and an Associates in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering.
Additionally, Farid is an Adjunct Lecturer at Rutgers University and New York University for technology and analytics courses. He actively participates and contributes to applied data mining and machine learning academic literature and conferences.
