Shortly before OffshoreAlert’s inaugural London conference in 2012, OffshoreAlert’s publisher was sued for libel by fund manager Timothy Schools and, during the event itself, his attorney – a past president of the Law Society of England and Wales, no less – threatened to sue the conference hotel if Schools was even mentioned during the event. At our London conference three years later, the U.K. Serious Fraud Office asked OffshoreAlert’s publisher to provide a witness statement for a criminal investigation into Schools for the very same £120 million investment fraud he had sued OffshoreAlert for exposing and … yada, yada … Schools was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2022 after being convicted of fraud and money laundering.
At another OffshoreAlert London conference, this one in 2016, OffshoreAlert’s publisher was leaving the podium after his closing remarks when a process server served him with a libel complaint on behalf of another fraudulent entity we had exposed, known as Privilege Wealth. That investment scam also quickly collapsed, but not before investors were swindled out of more than £40 million.
The point is:
- We know what we’re doing, and
- You never know what’s going to happen at an OffshoreAlert conference, except that, whatever it is, seriously dishonest people won’t like it.
As we gear up for our next conference on December 4-5, remember: OffshoreAlert London is where the unexpected happens. Don’t miss the chance to be part of an event where financial honesty takes center stage.
