He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison (a typical, pitifully-light sentence handed down by the UK's judicial system).

See story at, where Godley is inexplicably described as 'Britain's Bernie Madoff' even though there are virtually no similarities at all, except that they were both involved in fraud.

Imagine that, a 42-month sentence for a $400 million-odd fraud. No doubt he'll serve much less than that.

The SFO, the judge and Britain's ridiculous laws (e.g. jury cannot hear that one person has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and he does not testify against the others) have made their usual mess of the Imperial Consolidated crime. Many millions of pounds of taxpayers' money has been squandered on incompetence and an inherently silly system that, when all is said and done, achieved remarkably little in terms of dispensing justice. Very third world.

Cayman Court Secrecy: A Huge Red Flag for Foreign Investors & Clients
David Marchant
As any fule kno, the biggest enemy of fraud, corruption, money laundering, and other forms of financial crime is transparency, while their best friend is secrecy. That's why the unprecedented mass sealing of cases that's taking place at the Financial Services Division of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands is repugnant to anyone with a genuine concern for financial crime.
