Letter from Bermuda: The end of democracy as we know it as Premier continues to destroy Bermuda

Last month was a watershed for Bermuda. Its almost 400-year-old parliamentary democracy ended on May 23, 2008. Without regard to the islands’ Constitution, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown suspended the workings of the House of Assembly and later took over the powers of the Speaker of the House.
