The ICIJ will discuss its ‘Pandora Papers’ investigation into financial secrecy during a free OffshoreAlert webinar this Friday. Based on “11.9 million leaked records”, the ICIJ describes the investigation as “the largest in journalism history” and says it “exposes a shadow financial system that benefits the world’s most rich and powerful”.

It is good news that ICIJ and OffshoreAlert keep the ball rolling. In my view the problem has worsened since 2008 WikiLeaks and I published some of the data of Julius Baer, Cayman. Reason: many dubious clients were not protected anymore with simply a Swiss Bank Account under Swiss Bank Secrecy. The dubious clients needed new structures with trusts and companies, partnerships etc. in order not to be caught due to the Automatic Information Exchange! However, Swiss courts tried and are still trying to silence financial whistleblowers who could make such a difference in this matter! www.rudolfelmer.com

How have bearer shares and the new restrictions on them impacted foundations as secrecy structures and can you talk about foundations as a banking secrecy structure?
