Pig Butchering fraud – which rakes in billions of dollars annually via online romance, crypto, and other scams – will be scrutinized at next month’s OffshoreAlert conference in Bangkok.
A session entitled ‘The Rise of ‘Sha Zhu Pan’ Scams (‘Pig Butchering’)‘ will look at how the schemes work, the criminal gangs behind them, and the role of human trafficking.
The session will be presented by the Deputy Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police, Pol. L.G. Peou Chea; Al Jazeera journalists David Boyle and Mary Ann Jolley, and Matthew Friedman, who runs the Hong Kong-based anti-slavery organization Mekong Club.
