    First Bermuda Securities (BVI) Ltd. et al: Censure & Fine

    Consent by First Bermuda Securities (BVI) Ltd. and Jeffrey G. Conyers to a censure and $40,000 fine, respectively, and an additional fine of $10,000 for which they are jointly and severally liable to settle a regulatory investigation by FINRA.

    Accused fraudster Michael Richmond used name of First Bermuda Securities when raising funds

    A businessman - Michael Richmond - criminally indicted in the U.S. for an alleged $8.5 million investment fraud lied about a relationship with First Bermuda Securities when raising funds, claim investigators. Richmond allegedly told potential depositors of his Nauru-registered Royal Meridian International Bank that their accounts would be managed by FBS or Deacon Capital Corporation.

    BFCL comes to an ignominious end

    One of the most ambitious property developments in Bermuda's history that eventually turned into a four-year embarrassment for its sponsors has ended in typically ignominious fashion. Bermuda Financial Centre Limited was struck off from the Bermuda companies register on December 19 by the authorities and, three days later, the listing of its preference shares was cancelled by the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

    First Bermuda Securities sues former principal

    First Bermuda Securities, an investment advisor and broker, is suing one of its former principals, Joe Taussig, and a related company, Bitter End Holdings Ltd., for $52,164 in alleged unpaid fees.The claim relates to a management contract FBS said it assigned to Taussig in June, 1995, in return for between 25 and 50 per cent of the fees earned by the contract.

    First Bermuda Securities sues Gordon Capital over BFCL

    Investment firm First Bermuda Securities Ltd. is suing a former business partner for $791,668 in alleged unpaid commissions stemming from the Bermuda Financial Centre Ltd. project.FBS filed a lawsuit yesterday at Bermuda Supreme Court against Gordon Capital Corporation, of Toronto.

    Secret talks have been taking place for investment firm First Bermuda Securities to buy a significant stake in Bermuda Savings & Loan Ltd. and take over its management, we can reveal.If the deal goes ahead, it would give FBS access to approximately $26 million that is on deposit with Bermuda Savings & Loan and could lead to new mortgage-related products becoming available.

    BFCL tries to raise $131 million

    Promoters behind the Bermuda Financial Centre said this week that they are seeking Bermudian investors as much as Bermuda dollar investments for their proposed $131 million hotel, conference and office complex.
