    Steamship Mutual sued by injured seaman

    A seaman has filed a petition to recover court-awarded damages against protection and indemnity club The Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited. Anthony Todd filed his petition at the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, in Louisiana, on January 18, 2008. The case that was removed by Steamship Mutual to the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on March 4, 2008.

    Bermuda P&I Club sues members

    Two lawsuits for allegedly failing to pay claims were filed recently in the United States against Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited, a Bermuda-based P&I Club. The first complaint was filed on November 5, 2004 at the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of New York by Penn Maritime, Inc., as successor-in-interest to Morania Oil Tanker Corp., which is incorporated in Delaware.

    Steamship Mutual seeks to attach assets of allegedly delinquent member

    A Bermuda-based P&I Club is seeking to garnish $303,936 of assets belonging to a Connecticut-based marine vessel owner which has allegedly failed to pay its membership premiums.The Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Ltd. filed a complaint for garnishment against Sea Oil Shipping Ltd., of Greenwich, Connecticut, at the U. S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on February 24, 2003.
