US Prosecutor to discuss first FATCA conviction at vGLOBAL

A U.S. federal prosecutor who helped secure the first-ever criminal conviction – of an offshore banker – under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act will talk about the case at next month’s OffshoreAlert vGLOBAL virtual conference.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Gopstein, of New York, will be joined by lawyer Michael Levy, of Mayer Brown, and Alex Shea, of Guidehouse, to discuss the investigation and prosecution of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines-domiciled Loyal Bank and related parties in England and Mauritius, including its former CEO Adrian Baron, and, generally, the risks faced by offshore professional service providers under FATCA.

The session will be the opening session of OffshoreAlert vGLOBAL virtual conference on financial intelligence and investigations will take place over five days from December 7th to 11th. Tickets and details are available from www.oavglobal.com.
